In today's ever changing American economy there are a growing number of social and community issues that are faced with more and more budget and fiscal short-falls. Yet through all or most all adversities, I have learned that the Native American Community as a whole tends to help its own as well as their surrounding community.

As an Air Force Veteran, Silver Eagle, holds dear to his heart the bond with his brother and sister Veterans of the Armed Forces, and the desire to protect the People. Silver Wings, a War Mother, holds dear the nurturing and growth of our youth, because they are the future of the People.

With their personal resources and sweat-equity labor on their forty acres of land in Lower Alabama, they are developing The Eagle's Nest of Alabama for the good of the People. Why?

1. To host traditional Native American gatherings, pow wows and ceremonies.

2. To present a diversity of Native American spirituality, tradition and culture.

3. To provide a "traditional" atmosphere of Native American gatherings without the intensely commercialized-type pow wows and gatherings being promoted and held around the country.

4. To provide a safe environment to learn and discover certain tools and methods of Native American culture and tradition.

5. To educate on the differences and similarities of Native American Cultural Diversity, specifically the cultures and traditions of Native American peoples.

6. To educate people on the duty, honor and dignity of Native American Warriors/Veterans, past, present and future, and to provide a place of honor for these Warriors/Veterans.

To meet these six goals they are with their first Annual Falling Leaves Intertribal Gathering and Pow Wow initiating the beginning of the collection period for the Thanksgiving through Christmas Holiday season.

Falling Leaves Veterans Food Drive - benefiting all needy Veterans, Armed Forces Members and their families.

Toys for Native American Children - benefiting Native American Children, on and off reservations, that may not receive a toy or gift for Christmas.

Veterans Homecoming: Healing the Spirit Within - During pre-colonial and pre-removal periods, the warriors often separated from their village for a period of time in preparation for battle, both mentally and spiritually. Upon their return they also separated from the village for a period of mental and spiritual cleansing and purification. more...
